Thanksgiving 2015 | It's Bekka

On the way to Vegas!

Long time no see, I hope you all had a lovely thanksgiving if you celebrate it, and a festive start to the holiday season!! I'm writing to you from 39,000 feet above sea level and am embarking the journey from Las Vegas, Nevada back home to Denver. This last week has been nothing short of an adventure. Between the late nights looking at the beautiful full moon, to the early mornings watching the sunrise, and everything in between. And I have loved every second of it!!

This picture was taken right outside my
grandma's back yard, in the middle of the desert,
I was surrounded by cacti and beautiful read rocks
a little piece of dry, dusty heaven.
While in Arizona I met one of the most interesting yet a annoying boys I have come across. His name is Andrew, he lives with his grandparents just down the street from October 3rd (trust me I told him about the Mean Girls reference!!) and he had this very mysterious vibe to him. Well as some of you guys know this mysterious vibe in boys is nothing new to me. Now keep in mind I didn't want to date him, oh hell no!! I first saw him with my grandma when they picked me up at the airport, I found them both at baggage claim and he was looking down at his phone, (and at this point he looked significantly younger than me not 4 years older!!) and the drive back home we talked the whole way.
where I was staying with my grandma. With short black hair and a fuckboy wardrobe, he was quite the character. We spent a lot of time together, playing video games, going on walks and just talking. He's 18, born on

He told me about how after he graduated he moved to Bullhead City, and has lived there ever since. I found him a very different person than I am, as he didn't seem to have a distinct plan for his future, and was not concerned about his lack of a plan. Now don't get me wrong this is not s bad thing, but the people I tend to surround myself with have huge dreams of going to MIT and Stanford right out of high school. We talked about dumb stuff like what our favorite colors and foods are, and I told him about my girlfriend. He seemed very shocked! Similarly to how I hadn't met someone who didn't have a plan for the future, he had never seen a lesbian!! Over the course of the week we spent a lot of time together, talked about sex and depression, the deep stuff. I think today he was harder to leave than my grandma, because we have grown close over the last week, and he drives me crazy, like a brother, but at the same time I love him like a brother.

Thanksgiving Dinner
Now for most this is not an accomplishment, but to me it seems pretty significant. Up until this week, I have flown before but my mom or grandma has walked to me to the gate, and picked me up there. Now my mom still brought me to the gate in Denver, but my grandma was not as motivated to get through security and navigate the airport with her old lady walker. So me being myself, I had headphones in and walked all the way down to baggage claim to meet her. And the best part? I only got lost twice!! Then flying back this morning, Andrew and his grandfather helped me check my bags and then we said our goodbyes and my, myself and I took the boarding pass and my ID and breezed through security, grabbed a Starbucks and plopped down at the gate with my bags to wait to board. I find it fun that no one questions me when I'm a freshman walking through the airport all by myself. Maybe it's because I looked like I has everything under control, (not gonna lie I was having a mini panic attack on the inside.) But then I began writing to you guys, I know there are only 6-7 people who read each of my blog posts, but writing is therapeutic for me, so thanks you 6 people, it really and truly means a lot to me!!!

In-N-Out burger, the 1st time
In-N-Out burger, the 2nd time around!
*heart eyes emoji*

I think I will do another blog post on all the lovely things I picked up while on my trip but for this post this will be all, I'm going to leave you with a picture I took while on the flight back home. I don't know about you but I love how the clouds look from about, because you don't get the nasty glare from the sun in your pictures!! Till next time xx

Autumn Vibes - Sleeping With Sirens & All Time Low | It's Bekka

Hello again everyone, long time no see. I've had a busy start to high school, and here we are in my favorite season, Autumn. I love everything about fall, pumpkins and everything pumpkin flavored. The red leaves, and Halloween parties, every aspect of it is amazing. But my favorite part of this fall was by far the Back To Future Hearts Tour. The tour included One Okay Rock, Neck Deep, Sleeping With Sirens, as well as All Time Low.

I went with one of my best friends Mollie and we had school the day of the concert. I was physically at school but totally not there, I was somewhere so excited about everything that was to come later that day.

My mom picked us up and we took the journey from my little high school to Broomfield. It was probably close to freezing when we arrived and stood in line. Everyone was buzzing with excitement and there was already pop punk music blasting in the distance.

The doors opened at 5 and we rushed inside. There were 2 kinds of tickets, the general admission tickets, and the floor tickets. We had floor and rushed to the line where we were handed bright orange bracelets.

Once we stepped into the arena, the vibe and energy just quadrupled. There was a growing blob in front of the stage, almost bean shaped, where we joined.

I'm pretty sure between when we arrived and when the concert actually started 45 ish minutes later, at least 50 people had accidentally touched my butt.

After  the wait the lights went dim and One Okay Rock stepped onto the stage, a 4 piece Japanese band who I had never heard of before the concert, but now 6 days later, are my new favorite band. Neck Deep was okay but I don't remember much, as at this point in time Mollie and I were shoved back further because of these rambunctious boys who wanted front row.

Around 7:30 the real show began. The lights went down and the drum beat started, then the guitar riffs and then the one and only Kellin Quinn entered the stage, holy crap.

He wore tight faded black skinny jeans and a RANCID shirt.

His tattoos were more beautiful than ever and his hair was so pretty I think I started crying. They're entire set list was perfect and I was shaking through the whole thing, my heart vibrating to the sound of the bass, every fiber of my body engulfed in the vibes in the room.

All Time Low was just an extension of the Sleeping With Sirens set because they both were quite similar, yet different.

The accoustic songs were where everyone in the crowd cried together and held their best friends and every other song was fist pumping, and jumping up and down worthy.

I wish I could go back, and freeze myself in that moment, and stay there forever, in my happy plave

Music Videos and Mashups | Bekka

A/N: I wrote this post a while ago and still love it so let this be this week's song(s) of the week!

As most of you may not know, I have an obsession with music. I have fond memories of having headphones in my ears lip syncing to my invisible crowd while I pretended my Mom's treadmill was my stage in the basement when I was 7 or 8 years old. Then at age 10 or 11 I decided that I wanted to play the violin, I've now been playing the violin for almost 4 years now as well as the saxophone, baritone, trombone, guitar, and a little bit of piano. I've always been that girl with headphones and an MP3 player with her at all times, as well as a song that I'm singing in my head during school.

To go along with my obsession of music, I love the visual art that goes along with the music. That art being expressed in a performance, or album artwork, or, my personal favorite, music videos. Today I'm going to be sharing my top 4 favorite music videos with you and why they're my favorite. (These are in no particular order!)

1. Linkin Park - What I've Done

I first saw this music video in my 8th grade English class. I don't remember what the lesson was on but I still remember the video. Even before the first verse begins, there are multiple clips shown that need to be recognized. There are two that stand out the most to me, there is a clip of a firefighter carrying a little girl out of a fire, then right after a group of police officers shooting at a van driving by. One of these acts is being shown as heroic, the other as inhuman and cruel, these emergency personnel work everyday to keep everyone safe, and sometimes that involves violence, but the response from society (being used as a broad term) doesn't approve. The next clips that stand out to me is a set of three. First a picture of children starving because they have no food, a man stuffing his face with a burger, and a woman measuring her waist and trying to be skinny. Within 5 seconds there are 3 MAJOR problems happening in the world. The people who have no option to eat and die of malnutrition. The obesity epidemic happening in countries like America and The UK. And finally eating disorders, another problem primarily in America and Western Europe. I could go on for ages and ages about the other powerful images in this video, but I'll let you pick those for yourself.

2. The Script - If You Could See Me Now

This video is very close to my heart for multiple reasons. First of all, as a fan of One Direction, I see the struggle Louis and Zayn specifically have with their confidence and how happy they are when their families see them preform. Same way with 5 Seconds of Summer, it isn't hard to see their homesickness when they're preforming all over the world and their Mum's and families are all in Australia. A more personal reason ties back to what I said at the beginning of my blog post, my music. With the instruments I play I preform in both my school band and orchestra. Something you probably don't know is my Grandpa passed away last April from complications of surgery, and he never got to see me preform. My story isn't at the scale that it is shown in the video, but still gives the same message. My favorite part of this video and song is it's not directed towards losing a grandparent, parent, friend, or romantic partner, it's all of the above. While the video is clearly focused on the music, depending on your life experiences it could stand for many things.

Bottom line, it's about being proud of something and heartbroken that someone you love can't share the experience with you.

PS: I am moving house this week so by the time you are reading this my entire life will be packed up so there may or may not be a new blog post next Wednesday, but I have a fun post (with pictures!) planned for next Saturday!

Song Of The Week - April 22 - Coachella

So as my second song inspired from the Coachella 2015 artists, this one is a lot different than the first song. This has much more of a Coachella vibe, with strobe lights and intense music. I've never been but I've seen countless blog posts, vlogs, and videos of Coachella lookbooks and concert performances. Who want's to go with me?

Nothing here to see
Just a kid like me
Trying to cuss and see
Trying to figure it out
When I'm stuck on you
And still I'm here
Trying to figure it out
But it is in my dreams
But it's killing me
To try and figure it out
When I'm stuck on you
And still I'm here
Trying to figure it out
And I'm not allowed to talk it out
I said I'll come, I'll promise I won't show
But I see you trying to figure it out
I promise you, I'll take a bet on you
But you didn't know I planned it out
I said I'll go, yeah, I won't see you later
And I'm not allowed to figure it out
Just a kid like me
Trying to cuss and see
Trying to figure it out
When I'm stuck on you
And still I'm here
Trying to figure it out
And I'm not allowed to talk it out
I said I'll come, I'll promise I won't show
But I see you trying to figure it out
I promise you, I'll take a bet on you
But you didn't know I planned it out
I said I'll go, yeah, I won't see you later
And I'm not allowed to figure it out

Nothing better to do
Getting hard to sleep
Nothing better to do
I'll let it go 'cause I won't see you later
Nothing here to see
Nothing better to do
I'll let it go 'cause I won't see you later

Song Of The Week - April 18th - Coachella

So the song of this week is Be The One by the HAERTS. I chose this song because it was one of the first songs they played at Coachella last weekend and I fell in love. On top of that the lyrics are magical.

It's going on for a while, what you're feeling
You say you're leaving what you can't believe in
Don't you say you're alone, I will fight it
Are you happy inside, but you're smiling
You say you never knew what you needed
You say it's hardest to find when you're bleeding
You know you never look down when I pass by
I never meant to control, never asked why
(You wanted to be)
Be the one I want to make with
Be the one I want to take with
Be the one I want to break with
(You wanted to be)
Be the one that I would lie for
Be the one that I would die for
Be the one that I would touch
Be the one I love too much
Be the one
Be the one
No one knows where you go when you're leaving
Try to close my eyes, to start dreaming
Don't know why you don't know what to tell me
Don't know why you're trying to sell me
(You wanted to be)
Be the one I want to make with
Be the one that I would take with
Be the one that I would break with
(You wanted to be)
Be the one that I would lie for
Be the one that I would die for
Be the one that I would touch
The one that loves too much
Be the one
Be the one
Can you show it when we're going down
(Be the one) [8x]
[Break]
(You wanted to be)
(You wanted to be)
Be the one who always will
Be the one who always will
Be the one who always will

Did I die?

Hey guys! I know I haven't posted in foreverrrrrrr and I'm very sorry but I have an excuse!

I've had a kind of obsession with Tumblr recently, so in the late night time where I usually write blog posts, I've been over on Tumblr.

Also since my last mention of my Instagram account, I've put a lot of time and energy into that to help grow and make it more successful. I'm hoping to soon join together my blog and Instagram so they work hand in hand, so bear with me.

I also have a few things I'd like to just chat about.

1. I have started this thing (as of last week) on my Instagram called Song of the Week. I think I'm going to start writing commentary and attaching the audio files to a blog post. As well as I want to do extensions of different things on here from Instagram. A lot of Instagram accounts I know are very good at managing a YouTube channel as part of their Instagram, I'm working towards doing the same thing with this blog.

2. I'm having a very hard time figuring out how I want the background of my blog to look, I want it to be interesting but not distracting, I'm having a bit of a struggle there. I also have a few blog post ideas in my mind right now, and one in particular that I was very passionate about when I wrote it a month ago and that will probably be up later in the month.

3. I'm moving house! Towards the end of April my family and I are moving across town to a new house so be prepared for new pictures and maybe a new "bedroom haul" post.

I believe that that's all for now so thanks for reading, as always, and I hope you have a lovely morning/afternoon/evening!

Love, Bekka.

Mental Health | What Can YOU Do?

Something you may not know about me is that the topic of mental health is very close to my heart. I know an array of people who have suffered with mental health issues as well as experienced it first hand. So much so that it is the thing I want to dedicate my life to helping “cure” as well as prevent.

Mental health is a problem. Just like cancer or diabetes, and it needs to be handled in the same fashion. As said in the video people are afraid of something being wrong in the brain, because the brain is the control center of the body. The thought of being out of control terrifies people.

When most people think of a mental health issue they think depression, and yes, that is the most common mental illness out there, but by supporting this stereotype that mentally ill people are depressed and in turn jumping to the conclusion that they’re suicidal, causes other issues. Most of this stereotype comes from the media and Internet, so this is our job to fix this stereotype. I know this   is just a blog post on another blog in the world if the Internet, I only have 3 followers!

But I have this Instagram account you all know it as @larry.tattoo and there are 12,000 people who follow it, now all 12,000 of them followed the account because they love One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer.

---------------------------------------------------------------
But most of them are more than just people in love with a band. A lot of them are seriously depressed, always anxious, anorexics and bulimics. And there is one thing that I have in common with them, we’ve put on blankets.

Now you’re probably going what the heck is she talking about? When you go and get into bed you lay under blankets because they keep you warm and comfortable and protect you. It’s the same thing with mental illness. Some of us hide behind binging and purging routines, some of us hide behind counting calories, some of us hide behind drugs and alcohol, and some of us hide behind our razor blades and burn scars.

All of these examples have one thing in common, there is a numbness where you can’t feel or address the real problems that are going on. What I’m here to tell you about is the feeling after the numbness. The morning after the drinks or the cuts or the binge where you realize what you’ve eaten, or you have the headache of a hangover, or the sting of hiding your cuts under clothes, and when you realize you have nobody to call, or to help you, you realize how alone you are.

I know this feeling, and if I do one thing in the world I want to have a place that’s available to everyone where they can go to know they aren’t alone.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
There are two kinds of people who read this blog post.

  1. The Insiders.
If you have related to any of the things I’ve talked about and you know the feeling of numbness or the feeling after, you are an Insider, you are the person that other people need to go “yeah, I’ve had that happen and I recovered from it by doing _______”

2. The Understander
This is probably the harder position of the two, because the first reaction to someone who cuts or is a drug addict to just tell them to stop. The hardest thing for you is to understand, and you might never understand and that’s okay.
So now that I’ve rambled on forever there is something I want you to do. Share this blog post on your Twitter, Tumblr, or Facebook. Anywhere where you feel comfortable to share your own story. Share this link wherever you want to and share your story. Or if you don’t have a story of a mental health illness share this with someone who you know that is going through a hard time.

To show your support use the tag #mentaltalk to share with your friends and family, and follow my twitter https://twitter.com/mental_talk or leave a commen below, if you don’t feel comfortable with this being public you could always DM me on Twitter or email me bbkkluv143@gmail.com

I also just made an Instagram account (@mentalhealthproject) that is going to be a place to make your Instagram timeline brighter and more positive.

Thank you for reading. xx

All About The Blog

Hi! So if you didn't know my name's Bekka, and this is my blog! I know you who is reading this probably don't know who I am, so I'm going to tell you as briefly as possible.

It all started in 2010. July 24th to be exact. I was 9 years old when One Direction was put together. And no matter how cheesy this sounds, this band is the best thing that has ever happened to me. About 8 months after the band began I started an Instagram account that I dedicated to them. It has about 11,500 followers in just under 4 years. But that's not what this blog is about.

In the end of September 2014 I started watching Zoella's YouTube videos, slowly I started watching more and more people and now I am subscribed to over 60 people on YouTube. Then in November I found out that she had blog, and I had never known this kind of thing existed before, and I couldn't get the thought out of my head about just writing down things that I thought that other people would then like to read.

That then leads me to this blog. I'm writing to girls aged 11-15 who understand the feeling of wanting nice things (clothes, beauty things, shoes, exc...) but not having a job to accord such things. I want my blog to be about "girly" things and be entertaining and relatable all at the same time.

If you like any of my first 3 posts leave a comment below, you can also leave suggestions for a new blog post (I changed the settings so anyone can comment you don't have to have an account!) Or if you do have an account feel free to follow. It would also mean a lot to me if you'd help me spread the word about my blog to you friends via Facebook or Twitter. Sharing links and all of my social media links you'll find on the right!

How To | Decorate Your Laptop

So today I decorated my laptop. I posted this picture on Instagram and everyone was freaking out and loved it. I asked if they would like me to do a kind of how to blog post so here it is! (If you've been sent over from Instagram, hello!)

So the first thing to do is have a laptop (seems pretty standard) You could also do this on a tablet or an iPad or even your phone is you'd like.

The next thing you need to decide is if you want the stickers directly on your laptop/device or not. This is completely up to you. Advantages to not using a case would be you don't have to go buy a case, but if you did use a case you could take of the stickers whenever you like. As you can tell I didn't use a case for mine.

Next you need to buy sticker paper. I didn't know such thing existed. They're labeled as postage labels but make sure you get the type that is paper size! I got mine at Walmart for $4.44 and that was for 10 sheets (I used 4 for all my stickers (It would have been 3 but I messed up))

So I found my stickers on various parts of the Internet and I'll link them all below, these are just the ones I chose but feel free to use any pictures that you like.

--A little Internet hack is when you search in google add "png" to the end of your search to get a transparent background that ends up being white when you print. (Exp: Starbucks logo png)--

The most important part in order to make your stickers look good is the cutting job. Be sure to take your scissors with a steady hand and cut out your designs as close to perfect as you can. The nicer you cut the better your laptop/device will look!

Do's and Do Not's | Successful Fan Instagram

I think it would be fun to do a little series on my blog of Do's and Do Not's so if you have any suggestions leave them in the comments.

So, as some of you may or may not know I have an Instagram. It is called @larry.tattoo and is dedicated to mostly One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer with occasional posts of YouTubers and cool Tumblry things.

Now I'm using the term successful very loosely, there are accounts I know that are amazing and have 200 followers, the way I use successful is that they have a large influence in the community of One Direction/5 Seconds of Summer accounts and other accounts look up to them.

Probably the most important thing about having a successful blog is patience. I've had my account now for almost 3 1/2 years and I have worked very hard on it since the beginning.

Another thing that is not specific to Instagram is you need to know which of your social media's you fancy the most. Like for me I love Instagram more than say Twitter, Tumblr, and Vine.

Next you need to decide what kind of "theme" do you want to use. Now this can change though out the progression of your account as well as what you want to do with it. One of the most important things is to be passionate and enjoying what you post. Here's a few examples of themes:

Band member pictures: This is my staple theme because I am one of the most lazy people you'll ever meet and I always want to post if I have something cool to say in the caption and I don't have something cool I made to post. (Most of the time I'm convinced I'd be better on twitter so follow me @bekkaratzloff) If you're feeling like you want your posts to look better than you could also do a theme within the band members pictures like alternating black and white with color or the film filter from PicsArt (<-- I love this app and maybe I just got the idea to do a "Review of my iPhone apps" blog post someday, leave a comment if you'd like to see that)

Collages: I think this is the good medium of lazy and over achiever because depending on your mood the collage could be complex and tell a story (for example just based on the pictures and the color of the border - if you used a black border and depressing pictures with a picture of a band member crying you tell the story of they're depressed or something really bad happened.) If you love finding cool looking pictures on Tumblr this would be good to intermix cool pictures and band pictures.

Funny edits: I can't review this because I suck at these, so those of you that can do them *thumbs up emoji*

Video edits: So I have made a few of these and I'm not gonna lie to you, they're not easy. Even though they can only be maximum of 15 seconds long, they can take on average 30-60 minutes to make. I also have a problem with getting a good idea for video edits so to be an account that makes vide edits on an average basis...I envy you.

My last tip for this post is to interact with your followers. Although seems like a simple topic there can be so many things that fall under that category.

Following: The best thing you can do (especially when you're just starting off) is to follow back your followers. I know that it has become more common for people now to have a separate app that tells them who's not following them back. (I would also suggest an app like that for you)

QOTD: This is a very good way to get to know your followers better and to encourage your followers to comment and like more.

Giveaways: Now these are prominently more for larger accounts but they can also be very helpful in growing your account. With a giveaway I did I gained .5 K in 3 days and another account that i saw gained 9.2 K over a 2 week period where her giveaway was active.

I hope that I have helped you and you now know more tools to grow your account. If you liked it +1 this post and follow my blog for more posts.

Comment below any thoughts, and if you read that whole post I love you so much and your support means the world and a half to me.

Stay fabulous xx.

First Post

Sooooooo I was inspired by Zoella to start a blog on the things I like. I don't know all what I'm gonna post here but I have ideas for monthly favorites, OOTD posts, as well as anything and everything to do with One Direction and 5SOS.

Here's a little bit about me.

I'm 13 (almost 14!) and I've been to 2 One Direction concerts. I'm in the 8th grade and have naturally dark brown hair. In December 2013 I bleached my hair and for a year had red, pink, green, blue, purple, and platinum blonde colored hair. Now it's brown ombred into blue. I run a fan Instagram account for One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer. (as of now it has 11.7 K)

Most of the time I'm on the Internet and I'm what the normal person would call "anti-social" and thus of the name of this blog Internet Teens
